Dr. Patrick Sankale Shompole holds a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Nairobi, Master of Science in Immuno-parasitology and PhD in Hemo-parasitology from Washington State University.
He also holds Specialty certificates in Dementia-Alzheimer Disease, Mental Illness and Developmental Disabilities in Home Healthcare in the State of Washington, USA.
Dr. Shompole served the Kenya government for 16 years first as a field Research Officer in Transmara with the Germany GTZ program under the Ministry of Livestock Development and later worked as a Senior Research Officer and Head of the Immunology and Biotechnology Laboratory at the Kenya Agricultural Research Institute (KARI), Kabete.
During his tenure at KARI he worked extensively to develop a Biotechnology Laboratory capable of developing monoclonal antibodies, gene cloning, DNA sequencing, developing DNA probes and development of viral vectors for vaccine development. He also supervised several Master of Science and PhD students registered for training at Washington State University and the University of Nairobi.
Concurrently, he served for 6 years as the Kenya Resident Scientist and Adjunct Professor for Washington State University Animal Health Component under the USAID Small-Ruminant Collaborative Research Program developing the Kenya Dual Purpose Goat (KDPG).
In 1998, he joined the Department of Veterinary Microbiology and Pathology at Washington State University Pullman to work on Nematode Cysteine Proteases and UNC-18 genes binding to Caenorhabditis elegans neuronal syntaxin.
He later moved to the University of Idaho Department of Microbiology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology where he worked extensively investigating the expression of Staphylococcus aureas virulence genes activated during tissue invasion.
In the year 2002 he and the wife Lorna founded Glenhaven Adult Family Homes LLC and has successfully expanded the business to four DSHS licensed facilities providing Home Healthcare in Pullman Washington USA.
Dr Shompole has invested heavily in Kenya and manages several businesses amongst them Santa Lucia Schools, Delta Shompole Service Station. Other businesses include Shompole Minerals mining limestone in Kajiado to produce stock feed lime for the manufacture of livestock feeds and various grades of Terrazzo for the housing construction industry.
Dr Shompole is also involved in promoting Environment Conservation through promoting the sustainable growing of Bamboo plants in various regions in Kajiado and Narok. He advocates the use of products made from Bamboo through his website: sokohewaniventures.com
Kenya University Project (KUP)
Dr. Shompole joined KUP in late 2019 as a:
- MFB Founder and proactive recruiter of new members.
- KUP – Property Developer and proactive recruiter of new members.
- University Founder developing courses in Immunology, Virology and Fundamentals of Microbiology to be taught at the University.
- Preparing to teach the above courses once the university is developed.
- Medical Hospital founder working on the Laboratory Development Plan.
- Participates in meetings to discuss development strategies for DUT.
