Joan Kimaru Cheboswony is a senior academic leader with over two decades of experience advancing education across science, arts, technology, and health disciplines. She holds a Master of Public Health from Grand Canyon University (USA), a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Makerere University (Uganda), a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from Egerton University (Kenya), and a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry from Egerton University. This academic foundation informs a leadership approach that integrates scientific rigor, pedagogical integrity, and systems-level thinking.
She has served in senior curriculum and academic leadership roles at Grand Canyon University, where she has overseen multidisciplinary teams responsible for program design, instructional quality, faculty collaboration, and large-scale curriculum operations across multiple colleges, including science, engineering, technology, health sciences, and the arts. Her experience spans ground, online, hybrid, and satellite delivery models, as well as accreditation alignment, assessment frameworks, and digital learning ecosystems.
Earlier in her career, she contributed to national curriculum development through the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development, working closely with ministries, examination councils, and educators to shape science curricula and instructional standards. She has also worked extensively as an education consultant, public health advisor, and publisher, bringing a broad perspective on knowledge creation, governance, and societal impact.
Having lived, schooled or worked in varied counties including Kenya, Uganda, Germany and the United States, she brings a global and context-aware perspective to academic leadership. Her work reflects a sustained commitment to thoughtful collaboration, academic quality, and building institutions that serve learners, faculty, and communities with clarity and purpose.
